Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick revealed that winger Marcus Rashford requested to come off during Sunday's clash against Everton after flagging a potential injury concern.
Since his return from a loan spell at Barcelona, Rashford has been a key figure under Carrick, featuring in all three matches this season and starting the last two. He put in a strong performance in Sunday's 2–2 stalemate with Everton before being unexpectedly taken off with 20 minutes remaining.
Rashford showed no visible signs of discomfort, yet Carrick confirmed post-match that the forward was "feeling a bit of something," prompting his replacement by Patrick Dorgu.
"He's done very well," Carrick said of Rashford. "As I mentioned during the week, he's been outstanding since his return.
"I thought he looked really sharp again today and posed a real threat. The final touch didn't quite come off for him, but overall I felt he created some excellent chances and was a constant danger throughout the match."
Man Utd's Slim Options to Replace Rashford

The exact nature of Rashford's issue remains unknown. Carrick provided no additional details about a problem that could keep the 28-year-old sidelined anywhere from a few days to several weeks in the worst-case scenario.
The timing of this injury concern is particularly difficult for United, who are set to begin their Champions League and Carabao Cup campaigns, facing three fixtures over the next nine days. Squad rotation would have been required even without the added worry of a potential injury.
The challenge for Carrick is that United's winger options are far from plentiful. It speaks volumes that Dorgu, primarily a left back, was the go-to replacement for Rashford — a role he filled last season largely due to a shortage of natural wide options.
