Manchester City required a victory on Tuesday to keep their Premier League title hopes alive, but they could only salvage a 1–1 stalemate with Bournemouth, effectively handing the English championship to Arsenal.
The Cityzens faced a stern test at the Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth entered the fixture on a 17-game unbeaten run and had suffered just two home defeats in the league all season.
Pep Guardiola's side barely looked ready for the occasion and fell behind 1–0 when Eli Junior Kroupi curled a stunning effort home in the 39th minute, undoubtedly sending the red half of north London into celebration. City emerged from the break looking more threatening, yet they still couldn't produce the final ball—let alone find the net twice, as they desperately needed.
Erling Haaland eventually pulled one back for the Sky Blues deep in stoppage time, but it amounted to nothing more than a consolation. Now sitting four points behind league-leaders Arsenal with only one fixture remaining, City had no choice but to concede the Premier League title to the Gunners.
One Thing We Can't Ignore

Is this the conclusion of an era at City? Reports surfaced ahead of Tuesday's fixture that Guardiola is set to depart at the end of the season after a decade at the helm of the Etihad.
Snatching the Premier League title away from Arsenal would have been a fairytale farewell for the Spaniard, who has already claimed six league titles with City, but his squad fell short against Bournemouth. The visitors lacked genuine urgency in the opening stages, seemingly content to trust the process and wait for a goal rather than pressing the Cherries relentlessly.
The team appeared one-dimensional, even in the second half when two goals were required to stay in title contention. Throughout it all, Guardiola was as animated as ever on the touchline and bench, potentially watching his final chance to claim the English crown—at least with City—as the clock wound down.
He still guided City to the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in what may be his last season in the dugout, but Tuesday's draw will leave a mark on his final campaign.
Man City Player Ratings vs. Bournemouth (4-4-2)

*Ratings provided by FotMob*
GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma—7.0: Required the assistance of his woodwork to keep Bournemouth to a single goal.
RB: Matheus Nunes—7.3: Had difficulty containing Marcus Tavernier in the early stages and was then exposed by Adrien Truffert in the buildup to Bournemouth's opener.
CB: Abdukodir Khusanov—6.9: Left stranded as an unmarked Kroupi curled home a superb effort. Was jeered by the home supporters when he attempted a long-range shot.
CB: Marc Guéhi—6.4: Interpreted the game exceptionally well. Was quick to cover for Nunes and Khusanov whenever he was caught out of position during transitions.
LB: Nico O'Reilly—6.9: So preoccupied with Rayan that he lacked his usual attacking threat in the first half. Pushed much further forward after the break, but wasted a golden opportunity in the 46th minute that he really should have converted.
DM: Rodri—8.3: One of the few players who can hold his head high. Dominated proceedings from midfield, struck the woodwork, and registered 112 touches—the most of any player on the pitch.
RM: Antoine Semenyo—6.7: Glided past defenders on the right flank with ease before fading from the game as the match progressed. Had an early goal disallowed for offside.
AM: Mateo Kovačić—6.5: Showed signs of rustiness in possession. Was slow to react on several occasions and offered few decisive contributions.
AM: Bernardo Silva—6.4: Played several enticing balls in behind that ultimately failed to reach their intended target. Covered enormous ground before being substituted.
LM: Jérémy Doku—6.8: Used his physicality to get the better of Adam Smith, but to little effect. Failed to convert a brilliant chance to level the scores after the restart, which summed up his evening.
ST: Erling Haaland—7.9: Visibly frustrated during a subdued first half, where he found himself dropping deep just to get a touch of the ball. Did little to improve matters in the second half until his stoppage-time strike, though by that point the goal was largely meaningless.
SUB: Rayan Cherki (56' for Silva)—6.3: Showed glimpses of quality but lacked his usual creative spark.
SUB: Phil Foden (56' for Kovačić)—6.4: Completed only 14 passes in 34 minutes plus stoppage time. Kept possession alive for Haaland to eventually finish.
SUB: Savinho (56' for Semenyo)—7.0: Careless defensively, but won every individual duel.
SUB: Omar Marmoush (76' for Doku)—6.2: Almost entirely anonymous.
Subs not used: James Trafford (GK), Rúben Dias, Joško Gvardiol, John Stones, Tijjani Reijnders.
